Have you ever wished that you lived in the time of George Washington? Or settled the Wilderness? Or lived to sail with Columbus?

I know a man that used to daydream that. Then nine years ago in February that all changed. He and his wife were expecting their fourth child, a long awaited girl. Everything had been going well until "Crystal" began to bleed. She was rushed to the hospital where they preformed an emergency cesarean. The baby's cord was wrapped pretty tighly several times around her neck. The placenta had ruptured cause "Crystal's bleeding. That day "Rob" came close to losing his wife and daughter. If he had lived in  the days he day dreamed about he would have buried "Crystal" and most likely with their daughter undelivered. He would have been a widower with three boys under the age of eleven.

In the late summer of 1982 my mother was in the hospital. She had been really sick and the doctors were worried because she was pregnant. They couldn't find anything wrong on the basic tests but they were keeping her because she was pregnant. Her roommate suggested that they check her gall bladder. An ultrasound showed that her appendix was leaking toxins into her body slowly killing her. Surgery to remove it saved my mother's life and my unborn oldest sister.

A few years ago my older sister had to be rushed to the hospital because something was wrong during her pregnancy. They had to perform an emergency cesarean and my nephew was born five weeks early. My friend researched what my sister had and told me that women have died from it.

Before you day dream too much of living in those times think of people that are alive because of medical technology and knowledge of the age we live in. These are only six that I named here (unless you want to count my six siblings and I)
